Here are some of the highly recommended homes you can visit during Wiltshire and West Berkshire Green Open Homes weekend - 14th and 15th October


Passivhaus Plus home in North Newton near Pewsey

This impressive home was the first Passivhaus Plus home registered in Wiltshire. It is timber framed with an Air Source Heat Pump, triple glazing, excellent insulation, MVHR, and solar panels with battery storage.

1960's home retrofit in Pewsey

Also in Pewsey, this retrofit of a 1960's chalet bungalow improved the Energy Performance Certificate rating from F (red) to C (green). This home includes an Air Source Heat Pump, MVHR, high levels of insulation, double glazed windows and recently installed solar panels.

Modern home retrofit in Great Shefford

This interesting home uses water from the river Lambourn as the heat source for a heat pump providing underfloor heating. It includes high levels of insulation, triple glazing, solar hot water, a heat recovery ventilation system, and solar PV panels with battery storage. A rainwater tank also collects water from the gutters to feed the toilet cisterns and garden taps.
